Job Summary

This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of 6/30/2023.

The position within Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) exists to provide information necessary for decision-making and planning in the areas of fiscal and budgetary analysis so that federal, state and other program funds are appropriately and effectively used in accordance with federal and state requirements.

This position also provides guidance, oversight and problem solving for all federal and state funds available for EPR. This includes management of all contracts and grants awarded to local public health, tribal government, and other organizations, and ensure grantee or contractor financial budgets and invoices are accurate.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance or a Business Administration related field


Two (2) years of professional experience developing and administering budgets and/or grants.

Experience must include

  • D eveloping expense tracking and cost projecting.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices or budget principles.
  • Proven ability to organize data from multiple sources and synthesize information so that others can readily interpret activities, monitor progress, evaluate effectiveness, and prepare summary reports.
  • Planning complex projects and organizing complex series of tasks according to a timetable.

Minimum qualifications that will be assessed in pre-interview screen or during the interview:

  • Excellent writing skills and verbal communication skills sufficient to communicate clearly with division leadership and staff.
  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel, including reviewing a budget worksheet, creating formulas, and correcting errors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals (e.g., state staff, federal officers, project planners, and project managers) and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Finance or a Business Administration related field.

Experience working with federal grants management.

Experience working with principles and practices of public sector financial and business administration.
