Full time; Cooper Clinic. Cooper Clinic is currently seeking a Staff RN who will assist the Gastroenterology team by providing customers with an excellent experience in accordance with the companys visions, values and strategic objectives.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 30-32 hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises all aspects of patient care that promote quality outcomes
  • Educates patients and families on procedures and discharge instructions
  • Demonstrates patient advocacy and observes the patient Bill of Rights
  • Demonstrates competence in general nursing skills including vital sign monitoring and medication administration
  • Obtains intravenous (IV) access utilizing aseptic technique
  • Monitors patients utilizing non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP), pulse oximetry and three-lead electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration based on the age and clinical condition of the patient
  • Completes competency assessments for each phase of patient care including preoperative, procedure and recovery
  • Meets current documentation standards and policies and handwriting is legible
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures and assists the physician in completing procedures as directed
  • Correctly positions patient for procedure and provides supplies to physician
  • Obtains tissue specimens utilizing proper techniques and processes them correctly for pathologic examination
  • Able to perform simple tests i.e. blood glucose monitoring; notifies physician promptly of any abnormal findings
  • Maintains endoscopic scopes and accessories in good working condition
  • Demonstrates proper technique in handling and disinfecting endoscopic equipment and scopes
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers and physicians
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
  • Treats patients, families and co-workers with respect and dignity
  • Practices good guest relations and promotes excellent customer service
  • Maintains confidentiality of all employee and patient records

.Requirements:

  • BSN, Associates Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (RN)
  • Certification in Gastroenterology (CGRN) encouraged
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if working in procedure room
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Two years' general nursing experience with demonstrated competency in nursing
  • Experience in gastroenterology helpful
  • Completion and demonstrated competency of moderate sedation program
