As an integral member of the senior finance team, the VP, Finance is a highly visible, multi-tasking manager in charge of key financial performance management processes. These processes encompass Planning, Analysis, Help Corporate Functions & Operations leaders Manage, and Reporting of their global Performance.

The VP, Finance also takes a leading finance role in the company's transformation project, establishes financial guidelines, manages tools and processes to measure progress, coordinates the global finance team engagement and reporting of performance.

Other Information:
• The position is based in Silver Spring, MD and subject to travel for up to 20% of time domestically and internationally
• The position directly manages director and manager levels of experienced resources, and coordinates analyses and reporting performed for the function by dedicated finance center of excellence team. The position shares his/her financial expertise and process and tools experience and contributes to the development of the entire finance organization
• The scope of responsibilities of the VP, Finance is subject to evolve as the company's transformation project is reduced in importance


The VP, Finance and his/her team support all following Corporate Functions and Operations leaders and their teams in establishing their global long-range plans, budgets and forecasts, managing their organization structure, people and contractors, and expenses, and reporting on their performance against targets and plans:

• Business Affairs
• Business Development & Legal
• Executive
• Finance
• People & Culture
• Corporate Operations, including Communications, Data Analytics, GT&O and Facilities

1. Business partner with the corporate functions' leaders, provides all required finance experience and expertise to support their activities and transactions
2. Coordinate monthly financial review and analysis of each of the global corporate functions' performance, produce management reporting pack including P&L, balance sheet and FCF where necessary, forecasts and operating metrics and commentary
3. Drive and maintain budgeting, and forecasting, and support strategic planning processes
4. Maintain robust long-term model and associated analytics to support capital structure considerations
5. Contribute to business cases and strategic orientations of the functions with finance assumptions, sensitivity analyses and estimated impacts, support the transformation efforts of the corporate functions
6. Respond to Corporate Finance planning and reporting requirements, and other company disclosure obligations as required
7. Engage in the company transformation projects, own the transformation project plan reporting environment for all finance measures, coordinate finance organization involvement, ensure timely planning for the results of the transformation
8. Participate to the continuous improvement of Discovery's analytical capabilities, leverage Discovery's analytical tools and data capabilities
9. Participate in various cross-functional teams as required
10. Manage and develop team
11. Ad Hoc reporting and analysis as required


* Minimum ten years of experience in financial management, analysis and reporting, and business planning, with strong accounting and finance skills.
* Previous experience at a corporate level leading Financial Planning and Analysis work required
* Degree in accounting/finance required; MBA or CPA a plus
* Strong relationship building and conflict resolution skills
* Previous experience leading users with planning and analysis software (Cognos, BPC or equivalent systems)
* Adept at financial modeling, using Excel for scenario analysis and strategic plans. Must be able to develop assumptions and model their implications
* Strong shareholder value creation mindset with experience and ability to develop and implement financial management tools and processes to help drive value creation
* High integrity individual with strong organizational, management, training and development experience and strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to deliver on tight timelines, delivering insightful and consistently accurate financial analysis
* Extremely results-oriented, with ability to identify issues and follow through with efficient, effective solutions
* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proven ability to build confidence and trust with internal and external constituencies and provide excellent customer service
* Proficiency in MS Office applications
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
